- 1911-1975
- Born in Tripoli, Libya moved to Damascus when his father took refuge there
- Studied art in Rome 1935-1939 and specialized in oil painting and sculpture
- Worked as an art teacher and later as an inspector in Damascus secondary schools
- In 1960he became the deputy dean of the faculty of fine arts, Damascus
- Won the first prize in oil painting in 1951
- Awarded the Syrian Arab medal of excellence , first degree , in 1971
- One of the avant – garde, his style was neo-classical in oil painting and sculpture, but later sculpture works became more symbolic and modern
- His works are found in the national museum of Damascus and private collections
